Nothing will change while the London Review of Books thinks it’s radical to publish apologia for communist terror and the great and good close ranks when one of their own is caught excusing terror
My favourite clip so far from the disturbances in France is one of keffiyah-clad kids skipping merrily down a riotous street singing the chorus to 'Bella Ciao', much as we long-haired bell-bottomed youth skipped along chanting 'Ho-Ho-Ho-Chi-Minh' in the streets in '68. My guess is the French kids got their song mostly from the hit Netflix series 'Money Heist'. I'm not sure where we got ours from, but I'll blame Ewan McColl. Whatever, we were kids, they are kids, and the saddoes at LRB are just symptoms of the same problem.
Well said. It’s both outrageous and infuriating how the left gets a free pass to cause havoc in both the public and political domain. If these had been nationalist types rioting in France this week just gone, you’d never hear the end of it and the leftists and centrist dads you refer to would literally demand blood.
These divisions are not just an issue in France but are in every major Western country. For how much longer can such extreme divisions persist for I wonder.
