Even if the ideological preferences of Greens were not a factor, I recall you’ve already noted in other blogs that the council budget is now so overwhelmed by its social care and pension obligations that, with a cap on the council tax it can charge, cut backs to core services are inevitable. It’s inevitable therefore that the lowest priority will be given to anything discretionary that might be called nice to have rather than must have. I wouldn’t put the blame on the council cost accountants!
